Elvin Bishop is a legend that brought the blues influences he picked up in Chicago to Northern California in the ’60s, and never looked back. Career highlights include seminal work in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, recordings with John Lee Hooker and the Allman Brothers Band, and solo hits “Travelin’ Shoes” and “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” Bishop released his first live concert DVD,
That’s My Thing: Elvin Bishop Live in Concert in October, and the Blues Foundation nominated it for Best Blues DVD of 2012. Bishop’s got a huge bag of authentic licks that local players will want to pick up, especially those interested in sponging some slide moves in standard tuning.
