The Sounds hit the stage with high energy, thrilled to play in front of such a massive crowd. The sold-out venue cheered as guitar duo Felix Rodriguez and Jesper Anderberg jammed through their extremely catchy set. Rodriguez played with a great amount of drive and packed a punch with every note he hit. The riffs were intriguing, and the carefully crafted guitar tones made everything they played cut through and stand out. Anderberg constantly switched from guitar to keyboards, attracting a lot of attention from the crowd. Rodriguez and Anderberg chose parts and tones that added to the cool/creepy aura of the Sounds’ set.
After the Sounds’ set, Paramore started with an intense drum solo followed by the crowd favorite “Misery Business.” Lead guitarist Josh Farro and second guitarist Taylor York rocked the stage with Paramore’s signature sound, which consists of bright guitar tones and a lot of gain. As the band continued their set, they kept the show flowing with their hit singles “That’s What You Get” and “Crush Crush Crush,” and gave everyone a sneak preview of their upcoming album, playing new songs such as “Where the Lines Overlap” and “Ignorance.” Farro’s solos filled the entire venue, and added an extra boost of adrenaline to their songs. Paramore’s set ended with a bang, and the show transitioned to No Doubt’s set.
The opener, “Spiderwebs,” saw guitarist Tom Dumont playing his Hamer V. Dumont’s guitar work on songs such as “Just a Girl” and “Don’t Speak” kept the crowd’s attention, and the guitar tones did not disappoint. There is no doubt that No Doubt is back with the same amount of energy as before, and that guitarists from newer bands such as the Sounds and Paramore are also bringing a lot of talent to the table.
