I had the great pleasure of attending Experience PRS 2012, a
three-day event at the PRS factory in Stevensville, Maryland, beginning
Thursday, September 13th. Those days were packed with clinics,
workshops, factory tours, gear demos, jam sessions, retail guitar sales,
and great music (John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension, Neal Schon,
Mason, David Grissom, Bernie Marsden, Simon McBride, Davy Knowles, Clint
Lowery, Cody Kilby, and Tony McManus were all there).
Here are a few of the historic instruments that were on display in the Guitar Archives room:
Paul Reed Smith with an early vintage yellow Santana model made for Neal Schon.

While on tour this summer, I had the opportunity to visit the SIT String Factory in Akron, Ohio. I didn’t have a lot of time in-between sound check and show time, but I still wanted to get over to the factory, even if it was just for a few minutes. Bryan Trembley, one of SIT’s account representatives, was nice enough to pick me up at the venue and drive me over to the factory, which is located at 815 South Broadway.

Here are five micro-reviews of noteworthy recordings that have crossed
my desk recently—this time accompanied by streams of entire songs so
that you can hear the music for yourself, rather than merely reading
about it. (Thanks to all of the artists for making that possible.) In
case it isn't obvious, I really dig all of these discs. —BC
