I played a fun gig last night in a cool place, which, for me is a happening brew pub with a large crowd. The room wasn’t too big, so I just brought my reissue Fender Deluxe Reverb, with has been fitted with Kendrick Brownframe 12.

I am so sorry to say that my friend and great singer from the Knack Doug Fieger on Feb 14th lost his extremely valiant battle with a very aggressive cancer. 

As an artist with a new album to promote, I was pleased to receive a copy of Bobby Owsinski's Music 3.0: A Survival Guide for Making Music in the Internet Age.

Jeff Beck has been featured in GP many times over the years, and last Friday it was my turn to interview him.

Although I don’t normally watch awards shows or benefits, I did happen to catch some of the Hope for Haiti broadcast as well as some of the Grammys. With both shows, the good ultimately outweighed the bad. There are a lot of talented people in the music biz and most big-name stars got where they are because they’re, well, stars. But for every great artist there is someone who is, at best, green and unprepared, at worst, ploddingly mediocre. Because a lot of popular music is based around the vocal, singers get a lot of the face time. But there were notable guitarists on both of these telecasts, and we’ll talk about them too.

 As I tried different guitars at the 2010 winter NAMM show, I noticed the age-old guitar maker's set up dilemma: Low action/easy to play vs. higher action/better tone.
